BME Industrial Professor award for the representative of the Bosch Group in Hungary

Dr. István Szászi, representative of the Bosch Group in Hungary and in the Adria region, has been awarded a prestigious honor: the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) is recognizing his professional work with the title of Industrial Professor, which will be officially presented on May 31. This award has been presented since 2017 to the most outstanding industrial practitioners contributing to the educational activities of BME. The appointment was recommended by the BME Habilitation Committee and Doctoral Council and approved by the university’s Senate.

“In recent years, technological development has accelerated to such an extent that strengthening the link between education and industry has become vital. At Bosch, we have been thinking in terms of an innovation ecosystem for many years, where the most important technologies of tomorrow can be created through close cooperation between industry and academia. BME’s distinguished title of Industrial Professor is an encouragement to all committed professionals and also to Bosch to continue playing an active role in shaping the future and training the engineers of tomorrow,” said Dr. István Szászi about the recognition.
Charaf Hassan, Rector of BME, highlighted the following in connection with the award: “István Szászi has built a unique career starting from BME. The training and research programs provided by the University of Technology have been decisive in the domestic automotive industry for decades, and István Szászi has played a major role in strengthening the corporate-university ecosystem built on this foundation. He is a committed advocate of ensuring the next generation of researchers and engineers, and we are proud that he continues to lecture at our university to this day, thus contributing to engineering education tailored to industrial needs.”

In Bosch’s innovation ecosystem, which includes several Hungarian universities, institutions and students can learn first-hand about the latest industrial trends and get involved in the company’s research and development projects. The company has been working with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics on numerous joint projects for 17 years. The Competence Center for Innovative Vehicle Technologies, which is part of the group’s ecosystem, operates at the Faculty of Transport Engineering and Vehicle Engineering of BME, focusing on the development of electric vehicle powertrains: the center’s equipment and simulation systems are unique in Hungarian technical higher education.
