Bosch, Budapest Business School and the City of Hatvan inaugurate a smart laboratory in Hatvan

A state-of-the-art lab equipped with Industry 4.0 tools has been inaugurated at the Hatvan Community College. The lab, a collaboration between Robert Bosch Elektronika Kft. of Hatvan, the Budapest Business School (BGE) and the Hatvan Municipality, gives students the opportunity to learn about technologies used in an industrial environment and to develop their digital competences. The knowledge and practical experience they gain will improve their chances of finding a job and prepare them for the jobs of the future.

“The cooperation between Bosch’s automotive plant in Hatvan, the Budapest Business School and the municipality is exemplary, benefiting all three parties as well as the students studying in Hatvan. The newly inaugurated Industry 4.0 lab contributes to educating students with the latest technologies and providing them with competitive knowledge,” said Arne Ziegenbein, commercial plant manager of Robert Bosch Elektronika Kft. in Hatvan.

Preparing for the jobs of the future in the Hatvan lab
The lab uses Industry 4.0 technologies such as artificial intelligence, digital twins – virtual, digitally monitorable copies of real processes – and smart manufacturing technologies to demonstrate production and material flow processes, with a focus on data tracking, collection and evaluation, or data mining. For the most part they have installed tools that are also used in Bosch’s factory in Hatvan, including RTLS (real-time locating system) sensors, a simulation kit for PLC (programmable logic controller) programming, RFID (radio-frequency identification) readers and various software solutions. Learning and practicing the use of these will greatly help in learning about artificial intelligence algorithms, debugging and self-learning.
The Community College in Hatvan plays an important role in the training of Bosch employees in Hatvan and in the education of the next generation. Since 2016, hundred employees have taken part in training courses in Hatvan in electrical engineering or management and logistics.
