Three awards for Robert Bosch Power Tool Kft.

Miskolc / Budapest – At the Factory of the Year Award ceremony on 11 May, Robert Bosch Power Tool Kft. of Miskolc was announced as overall Factory of the Year 2017 among companies with annual turnover above 10 billion forints. The Miskolc plant also came away with the Best Management Processes title, and its development efforts took the Industry 4.0 Special Award, presented for the first time this year. After receiving the awards, László Fükő, General Manager of Robert Bosch Power Tool Kft., said, “This is tremendous recognition of the work of every associate of the plant. We are very proud of these awards. We see these honours as confirming that the values represented by the Bosch power tool plant, and our policies and future vision are best for development and manufacturing.”

It is the third time that the technological magazine GyártásTrend, published by Professional Publishing Hungary Kft., has run this competition. Every company in Hungary with a manufacturing operation can enter in nine categories, and the overall Factory of the Year Award goes to the company included on the shortlist in several categories and comes out first in at least one. GyártásTrend pronounced overall winners in three ranges of annual turnover: under 3 billion, 3–10 billion, and 10 billion forints.

The Best Management Processes category, in which Bosch also came out top, looks at the efficiency and profitability of the manufacturing and support processes in the plant, and how individual processes help the operation as a whole. Companies could also contend for the titles of Most Innovative Manufacturer, Best Manufacturer and Most Effective Production Support Company. This year, the Industry 4.0 category was included for the first time, for which MTA Sztaki joined the jury of industry experts in drawing up the criteria and assessing the entries. The criteria under appraisal by the jury were automation and digitization of processes and analysis and utilization of data.

Robert Bosch Power Tool Elektromos Szerszámgyártó Kft. was founded in Miskolc in November 2001, and develops and manufactures hand-held power tools. The company has become a dominant factor in the region as well as being the largest power tool plant in the Bosch Group. Now operating on a floor area of more than 38,000 square meters, the power tool plant employs nearly 2400 people. With high-standard, future-looking projects, Bosch in Miskolc is continuously pursuing a high level of innovation and helping the region to benefit from this development. Manufacturing is developing through automation, and production line efficiency is constantly being raised and material flows developed. These efforts have already brought the plant many national and international honours, including the Logistics Excellence Award (2010 and 2014), the European Gold Medal in Logistics and Supply Chain (Brussels), and third place in the Shiiba Award, IIE award (USA).
